Beyond Doctrine: A Personal Relationship with God

Faith is sacred, and religion is one of many valid ways people experience and relate to God. Honoring faith also invites us to distinguish between the essence of our connection to God and the frameworks that help shape it. I believe a personal relationship with God is more important than the tools or methodologies we use to connect to Him. While many apply religion because it is the most well-known approach, it is not the only way. God is not religion, because religion is a human invention limited to the understanding of its inventor. All 10,000+ known religions are interpreted through the subjective totality of the people who created them; from what they eat, how they behave, their culture, norms, the challenges they face, and the limitations of their own thinking, among other reasons.

God is an infinite, unlimited, and ever-expanding force no one can confine to one ideology. To put this into perspective, if I were to imagine God as a body that you are exploring, religion would be a single cell. There are infinite other cells, with more being created every day. This means we have infinite ways to connect to God, including through our own hearts and minds, allowing for experiences and insights meant specifically for us. Limiting God to a single expression diminishes the infinite ways He seeks to be known. Which is why I feel He created each and every one of us to be unique.

Science is a great tool to understand God’s creation, and also another form of religion. Only its methodology is based on observable evidence and irrefutable proof. This is good, but self-limiting by restraining itself to one realm. As quantum physics is beginning to realize though, there is much more to explore beyond our physical reality including non-local quantum entanglements. So maybe science is finally opening one eye.

Let us focus on expanding our consciousness to understand God’s message for us, rather than enforcing doctrine, which may, in some circumstances, become a hindrance to what is meant to be a beautiful experience on Earth.

If you are for religion, please enjoy your relationship without imposing it on others. However, for those who are brave, curious, or simply confused by it all, it is okay to keep searching for ways to connect to God in your own way. Do not let other people’s beliefs prevent you from developing a relationship with your Creator. God is inside each one of us, and this is the way Jesus was trying to teach in my opinion; embodying inner Christ consciousness to reach the Creator, the Father of All, rather than worshiping people, institutions or doctrines.

Jesus himself embodied the Christ consciousness that enabled him to accomplish everything he did. He came to show the way, not to be worshiped. The path to God begins within. This inward connection reveals that God is for everyone and not bound to any single form or expression. As the All-knowing, All Father and All Infinite, how can He limit Himself to one thing? That tells you it is not God limiting Himself, but the observer who is obscured by the confines of their imagination.

Find what speaks to you, as long as you are not hurting others, while discovering your purpose and embracing knowledge, love, peace, wisdom and higher consciousness that reflects the unending light of the Divine.
